Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in a meeting of the supervisory board of the Kazan Federal University

On February 8, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov together with Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Marina Borovskaya, Rector of the Kazan Federal University Ilshat Gafurov and representatives of ministries and departments of the republic took part in a meeting of the supervisory board of the University.

Gafurov reported on the results of the university’s work in 2018. He said that according to the grade point average of the Unified State Examination, the university remains a leader among federal universities. The University ranks second in the country after Peoples' Friendship University of Russia in terms of internationalization. Today, over 7,000 foreign students study at the university.

The total amount of research and development (R&D) has increased significantly and approached 2 billion roubles. A significant part of the university's R & D is funded by contracts with the real sector, namely, leading foreign and domestic companies. 

Speaking about digitalization, the Rector noted that the university is preparing a special programme in digital medicine.

Members of the supervisory board discussed issues of financial and economic activities of the university for 2018 and set the planned indicators for 2019.
