On November 17, speaking at the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov said that for 10 months of 2018, agricultural producers of the republic increased the production of meat, milk and eggs, despite the reduction of farm incomes because of low purchase prices.

“As many as 395,000 tonnes of livestock and poultry have been grown, which makes 102 per cent as compared to the last year, 1.5 million tonnes of milk yielded, 1.1 billion eggs produced, including 879 million pieces in agricultural units, which makes 120 per cent as compared to the past year,” Akhmetov said. He noted that on November 1, there are over one million heads of cattle in the republic, including 351,000 heads of cows.

At the same time, the minister noted that the republic has enormous potential for increasing dairy production, as not all farms use modern technologies.

Akhmetov emphasized that the harvesting campaign and autumn works have been completed in the republic. Therefore, the heads of agricultural organizations should start each working day with livestock farms. Today, it is the only source of funding of agricultural enterprises for paying taxes and preparing for the next sowing campaign.
