Rustam Minnikhanov: As many as 338 kilometers of roads were repaired and 74 crossroads were equipped with traffic lights under the safe and high-quality roads project

On October 17, at the Kazan EXPO International Exhibition Centre, speaking at a plenary session of the semi-annual scientific-practical conference “Safe and High-Quality Roads” of the Federal Road Transport Agency held under the Road 2018 International Specialized Exhibition,  Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that the federal project contributed to the development and repair of the road network in Tatarstan.

Minnikhanov expressed words of gratitude to the Russian Government for this project. He said that this project is being implemented in the cities of Kazan and Naberezhnye Chelny and added that it will also be implemented in the city of Nizhnekamsk from 2019.

During the programme implementation, over 338 kilometers of roads were repaired, measures on improving road safety at 163 accident concentration areas were taken and 74 crossroads were equipped with traffic lights in the republic.

Minnikhanov emphasized that the events go together with the regional projects for the development of public spaces, the repair of yard territories and are aimed at the implementation of the Comfortable urban environment priority federal project.

Speaking at the plenary session, Aide to Russian President Igor Levitin said that in the Safe and High-Quality Roads national project developed by Russian Government, a number of measures are aimed at achieving such indicators as reducing deaths in traffic accidents and approaching its zero rate. “I believe that this is a very serious challenge that awaits us. I am sure that we will be able to resolve this issue together,” Levitin said.

He emphasized that the Russian President set new tasks for the road sector and the Russian Government had already approved a comprehensive plan for improvement and expansion of the road infrastructure until 2024.
