Rustam Minnikhanov meets Akim of the East Kazakhstan region Danial Akhmetov

On October 12, at the Governor's Palace of the Kazan Kremlin, speaking at a meeting with Akim of the East Kazakhstan region Danial Akhmetov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that a visit of a large delegation of the East Kazakhstan region will contribute to the further development of cooperation with Kazakhstan, including at the interregional level.

During their working visit, members of Kazakhstan delegation got acquainted with the work of Kazan agro-industrial park, visited Kazan Federal University, where they met students from Kazakhstan, studying at the university, visited the city of Innopolis and took part in an unveiling ceremony of the Taikazan sculpture, symbolizing hospitality and fertility and donated to the republic by the Akimat of the East Kazakhstan region.

At the meeting, Minnikhanov thanked Kazakhstan colleagues for the present and emphasized that Kazakhstan is traditionally one of the leading trade and economic partners of Tatarstan and, with the support of Russian and Kazakhstan Presidents, the cooperation is dynamically developing.

Tatarstan is interested in expanding economic and investment ties with Kazakhstan partners. We have good prospects for further development of cooperation, Minnikhanov said.

In his turn, Akhmetov said that Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev sets the task of developing digital technologies. “We have found what we were looking for in Tatarstan, including in the field of medicine, medical equipment and we will establish and strengthen the contacts on these issues in the nearest future,” the Akim added.

Answering the journalists’ questions, Akhmetov noted that many innovative projects are developing in Tatarstan, in particular, in the area of digitalization, agricultural sector and education.

“We have established working groups for each of these areas and will sign a roadmap for the implementation of these issues,” the Akim added.

“Eastern Kazakhstan is a powerful industrial centre. We have discussed the issues of our further cooperation and we are interested in expanding trade and economic, cultural, educational, tourist ties,” Minnikhanov concluded.
