Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in the meeting of Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Maxim Akimov with Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong

On September 20, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, as part of the Russian delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Maxim Akimov, took part in an official meeting with Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong.

Akimov expressed his gratitude to Singapore Prime Minister for the meeting and the excellent organization of the Russian delegation’s working visit to Singapore. During the meeting, he noted that the diplomatic relations between Russia and Singapore were established by the founder and first Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew 50 years ago, who believed in the potential of cooperation and laid the foundation for friendship between the countries.

The cooperation between Russia and Singapore is expanding in many areas, in particular, in the area of ​​trade and economic cooperation, modernization and innovation, power engineering, management of special economic zones and training. Established in 2009, the Russia-Singapore Intergovernmental Commission of the high-level is an effective tool for promoting cooperation.

During the conversation, it was noted that free trade agreements between the Eurasian Economic Union and Singapore could contribute to further strengthening of economic relations in the future.

Minnikhanov added that Tatarstan attaches great importance to the development of contacts with Singapore under the relations between the two countries and wishes to participate actively in this process at the regional level.
