Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Hokim of Tashkent region Gulomzhon Ibraghimov discuss further steps to strengthen cooperation

On September 5, at their meeting in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Hokim of Tashkent region Gulomzhon Ibraghimov discussed further steps to strengthen cooperation and implement projects in different areas.

As noted at the meeting, Ibraghimov arrived in Tatarstan in October 2017, in March and August 2018. He also had a meeting with Minnikhanov at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in May this year, during which an agreement between the Government of Tatarstan and the Khokimiyat of Tashkent region on the implementation of international and foreign economic ties in trade, economic, scientific, technical, social and cultural spheres was signed.

Today’s meeting also discussed issues of setting up a branch of the Himgrad Technopolis in Tashkent region to search for companies - potential residents and to open production facilities. One of the sites in the region has the necessary infrastructure and offers a special tax regime.

The establishment of a joint venture with the Eidos-Medicine Company to set up a production line to assemble medical robots simulators for the needs of the medical industry of Uzbekistan is another promising area of cooperation.

They also discussed the development of relations with KAMAZ Automaker. The enterprise already has a partner company and maintenance centres in Uzbekistan. In September, another joint venture is expected to be launched.

Moreover, the participants of the meeting considered the opportunity of implementing a project in Tashkent region for the production of baby food, promotion of Tatarstan goods to the Uzbek market, as well as wholesale supplies of products from Tashkent region to Tatarstan.

Minister of Industry and Trade of the republic Albert Karimov, Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina, representatives of regional industrial enterprises and holdings took part in the meeting.
