Rustam Minnikhanov takes a ride in a new trolleybus of Trolza Megapolis 5265.03 model in Almetyevsk

On September 2, during celebrations of the Day of Oil and Gas Industry Workers in Almetyevsk, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of Almetyevsk municipal region Airat Khairullin, Director General of Tatneft Oil Company Nail Maganov and other officials took a ride in a new trolleybus of Trolza Megapolis 5265.03 model equipped with an energy storage device to ensure its autonomous operation.

Khairullin told the guests in details about the new model of trolleybus, which arrived in the city for trial run. This is a modern modification of the trolleybus with increased quality, reliability and comfort of passengers, high capacity, a rigid base, lack of steps and low floor level, which is very convenient for the elderly and wheelchair users. The vehicle is equipped with lithium batteries and is capable to go 15 km autonomously. This makes it possible to create new environmentally friendly routes without the construction of an expensive trolleybus infrastructure.

During the presentation, performance capabilities of the new trolleybus were tested.

Head of Almetyevsk municipal region noted that thanks to the support of Tatarstan President and under the federal subsidy programme, the Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Almetyevsk Trolleybus Management" plans to purchase 10 modern and comfortable trolleybuses with autonomous operation. They go some part of the route using the wires and then using batteries with the poles lowered.
