Rustam Minnikhanov emphasizes that Tatarstan and Chelyabinsk region have great potential for cooperation

On July 9, on the sidelines of the international industrial trade fair INNOPROM-2018, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Governor of Chelyabinsk Region Boris Dubrovsky signed a plan of action on the implementation of the cooperation agreement between the regions for 2018-2020.

Tatarstan President emphasized that Chelyabinsk region traditionally holds leading positions among the regions of the Russian Federation in the amount of trade turnover with Tatarstan.

“Tatarstan and Chelyabinsk region are industrially developed regions. There is a great potential for mutually beneficial cooperation. It is necessary to learn from each other at the interregional level, to adopt the experience in the development of investment attractiveness, the implementation of major investment and infrastructure projects,” Minnikhanov said.

Tatarstan President noted that one of the examples of close cooperation of the regions is the opening of a new service metal centre, which is a joint project of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works and Coskunoz Company at the Alabuga Special Economic Zone.

Dubrovsky emphasized that cooperation between Chelyabinsk region and Tatarstan is a natural and mutually beneficial process. To date, the share of Tatarstan in the total trade turnover of the Chelyabinsk region is about six per cent.

Later on the same day, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic – Tatarstan Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov and Minister of Economic Development of Chelyabinsk region Sergey Smolnikov signed a road map between the relevant ministries.
