Rustam Minnikhanov at the KazanSummit: Tatarstan is a window to the world of the Muslim community

On May 10, at the Korston Entertainment Complex, speaking at a plenary session of the 10th International Economic Summit “Russia – Islamic World: KazanSumit”, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that there is a huge potential for the development of economic cooperation between the Russian regions and Islamic countries.

Opening the meeting, Minnikhanov read the greetings of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to the participants and organizers of the Kazan summit. The Head of the State stressed that Russia supports the efforts countries participating in the summit are undertaking to promote justice, equality and mutual benefit in international economic relations, as well as to prevent unfair competition, diktat and unlawful sanctions. “I would like to reaffirm Russia’s interest in further expanding constructive partnerships with the countries of the Islamic World. In this context, we attach great importance to the work of Russia – the Islamic World Strategic Vision Group headed by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.”

In his turn, Minnikhanov noted that Kazan is a platform to unite all those who want to expand economic cooperation between Russia, its regions and Muslim states.

He stressed that the President Putin renders great support in this work and pays much attention to strengthening the relations of our country with the Islamic world. Minnikhanov also expressed his gratitude to the Government of Russia, the Federation Council, the State Duma, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and all partners for their attention and assistance in holding the forum and for supporting initiatives.

"Today, Tatarstan is a window to the world of the Muslim community. Our republic is one of the leading, industrially developed and innovative regions of the country, and is at the forefront of interaction with Muslim companies and investors,” Minnikhanov said.

Minnikhanov reminded that halal lifestyle is the key topic of this year’s summit. "We want to show that halal is not only products and services for Muslims, but also a sign of quality. This is a rapidly growing industry for investment.Leading world companies see huge opportunities for business development in Muslim markets. These trends must also be taken into account in economic strategies," Tatarstan President said.

Minnikhanov also noted that Tatarstan is ready to present its experience in implementing partner financing, discuss its problems and prospects for further development, and present new investment projects on the sidelines of the forum.
