Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in the Telangana – Tatarstan business forum in India

On April 17, the Telanaga-Tatarstan business forum, held during a working visit of the Tatarstan delegation led by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov to Hyderabad (India), discussed prospects for the development of cooperation between the republic and the Indian State of Telangana.

"I am glad to welcome all the participants of the Telangana - Tatarstan business forum, which is held in Hyderabad - one of the leading and dynamically developing Indian cities,” Minnikhanov said in his welcoming speech.

Tatarstan President thanked representatives of Indian business for their interest shown to the republic. He noted that the Tatarstan delegation included heads of ministries and agencies, representatives of regional enterprises. "We expect that during the visit the business circles will open up new areas for cooperation and agree on joint projects," Minnikhanov added.

He noted that the leadership of Russia and India are making efforts to expand cooperation in various fields, creating all the conditions for the development of interregional interaction.

Minnikhanov said that helicopters produced at the Kazan helicopter plant are well known in India. Moreover, Tatarstan is interested in delivering trucks, ships, petrochemical products, tires, and gas pumping equipment to the Indian State.

Speaking at the event, Principal Secretary at the Government of Telangana Jayesh Ranjan stressed that the Telangan authorities pay great attention to the development of the IT sphere. Today, the city of Hyderabad is one of the leading centres for the development of the IT industry in India. A lot of software companies, including several multinational corporations, have established their offices and production facilities in the city.

According to him, due to the active development of information technology Hyderabad is the second software exporter in India. For this purpose, the state has created about 70 special economic zones.

Minister of Industry and Trade of the republic Albert Karimov, Minister of Information and Communication of the republic Roman Shaikhutdinov and a representative of the Kazan Helicopter Plant also made reports at the forum.

At the end of the forum, Director of  International Institute of Information Technology of Hyderabad Professor P. J. Narayanan and Deputy Rector of the University of Innopolis Iskander Bariev signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the further development of information technology. The document envisages carrying out of joint research, an exchange of students and teachers, and also submitting applications for the international grants aimed at the implementation of joint projects.
