Aleksey Pesoshin holds a meeting of the interdepartmental working group "Digital Tatarstan"

On March 1, at the Government House of the republic, speaking at a meeting of the interdepartmental working group “Digital Tatarstan” held by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Information and Communications of the republic Roman Shaikhutdinov made a keynote report and briefed about the main trends and directions of digital economy, its development in the world and in Russia.

Speaking about the digital transformation, the process that contributes to approaching of digital economy, Shaikhutdinov reminded that it was stated in the Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly on December, 2016 that it is necessary to launch a large-scale system programme on the development of the economy of new technological generation, so-called digital economy. The Russian Government approved the programme “Digital economy of the Russian Federation” in five areas: regulatory controls, training and education, information infrastructure, information security, formation of research competencies and technological undertaking.

“Automated industrial systems, robotics, 3D printing - all these phenomena came into our live,” Shaikhutdinov said. “Consumption economy and production economy are moving increasingly to high technology. Corporations aim to increase their efficiency and to automate many processes. All this forms the so-called digital economy. The term "industry 4.0" was born in Germany, which refers more to the economy of production.

“It is important that Tatarstan as the region of Russia remains at the forefront of those events which already exist today,” Shaikhutdinov said. “Moreover, Tatarstan President headed the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia”.

According to Shaikhutdinov, a favorable environment for the transition to the era of the digital economy has been created in Tatarstan, in one of the leaders of Russia in the field of information technology.

He reminded that Tatarstan has developed a brief concept and structure of the digital transformation of the region, which includes several basic areas, such as digital healthcare, digital geospace, smart city and others.
