Rustam Minnikhanov gets acquainted with the expositions of the museums in the historical centre of Kazan

23.02.2018

On February 23, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the expositions of the museums in the historical centre of Kazan. He proposed to consider forms of support to the Kazan and Tatarstan non-state museums. Private museums, in his opinion, should be included in the tourist routes and excursions programmes.

The first facility of today's visit became the museum of weapons "The Spirit of the Warrior" on the territory of the Gun Yard in the Kazan Kremlin. The exposition of this museum is a collection that reveals the history of arms and weapons of the Tatars and their ancestors in the historical and cultural context.

The next visited facility became an exhibition of Baki Urmanche’s pictures and sculptures in Khazinе National Art Gallery. Director of Tatarstan State Museum of Fine Arts Rozalia Nurgaleeva gave a tour for Minnikhanov around the exhibition. She said that the exhibition was organized in 2017 and dedicated to the 120th birth anniversary of Baki Urmanche (born on February 23, 1897).

Minnikhanov proposed to work out the issue of expanding the exposition of Baki Urmanche’s museum on Shchapova Street in Kazan. He gave an errand to the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan together with the Executive Committee of Kazan to make proposals on studying, exhibiting and storing of Baki Urmanche’s creative heritage, including the materials of the artist's family archive. During the tour of the exhibition, the question of development of the collection with Baki Urmanche’s paintings from private collections was also discussed. It was noted that every year more and more works of Urmanche leave the republic, remaining in private collections.

Later on the same day, Minnikhanov and accompanying him officials visited the Museum of Socialist Life on Universitetskaya street. Director of the private museum Rustem Valiakhmetov said that he had begun to collect items gradually disappearing from everyday use.

Tatarstan President presented a two-cassette tape recorder, on which he made an inscription, an electric shaver produced in the 1980s and a shirt to the Museum of Socialist Life.

Valikhmetov informed Minnikhanov that a branch of the museum is also opened in Saint Petersburg, near the Kazan Cathedral, where the exhibition "Jeans as a cult" is currently organized. It is planned to open a branch of the Museum of Socialist Life with the total area of about 700 square meters in Antalya (Turkey) in April this year.

Valiakhmetov invited Tatarstan President to visit the museum in Saint Petersburg and also to take part in the opening of the museum’s branch in Antalya.

The next place of visit became Museum of Happy Childhood, which was opened by Valiakhmetov in 2005. Having visited the expositions, Minnikhanov gave an errand to Executive Committee of Kazan to calculate the total cost of the repair works of museum buildings in Universitetskaya street and to make proposals.
