Rustam Minnikhanov gives an errand to strengthen security measures during preparation for the New Year holidays

On December 2, a regional video-conference held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov with participation of all regions of the republic at Tatarstan Government House discussed security issues during the preparation and holding of the New Year holidays.

Tatarstan President noted that Kazan is one of five most popular Russian cities to visit during New Year holidays. Other tourist places of the republic such as the ancient city of Bolgar, the island-town of Sviyazhsk and the Raifa Bogoroditsky Monastery will be very popular among tourists during this period as well, he said.

As part of the preparation for the New Year holidays, Minnikhanov gave an errand to heads of cities and regions to pay special attention to issues of law enforcement and fire safety. Tatarstan President called for concentrating efforts of law enforcement bodies, employees of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, and intensifying work of public utilities in order to avoid any emergency situations.

Besides, Minnikhanov asked local authorities to take care of orphans, families with many children and low-income families on the eve of the holidays, in particular, to assist them in giving  New Year gifts for children.
