Tatarstan President visits HUAWEI Company

On November 18, during his working visit to China, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the office of Huawei Company, where a presentation of the center for modern technologies was made. The company specialists presented Minnikhanov systems to manage urban infrastructure, e-government, public transport, energy and the banking system.

Speaking at the meeting, Tatarstan President noted that Huawei is one of the world leaders in the field of development of info-communications. Products and solutions of this company are widely known throughout the world, including Russia, where the first company's office was opened 20 years ago in 1997 in Moscow.

"Tatarstan attaches great importance to the development of innovation. Our industrial parks, technoparks and engineering centres are among the most effective ones in Russia. The republic is working on the development of nano-, biotechnology, production of composite materials, robotics. We would be happy to work with Huawei on a number of issues. For example, we want to offer localization of the company's production facilities and the opening of a development centre in the Innopolis Special Economic Zone, make investments in regional educational projects, including the opening of the Authorized Academy of Huawei at the Kazan Federal University. The development of the 5G generation mobile networks in Tatarstan, as well as the use of Huawei network and northern equipment at the enterprises of the republic are promising areas of cooperation for us," Minnikhanov said.

As noted at the meeting, Huawei Network Academy is a new educational cooperation programme that Huawei offers to universities around the world for advanced theoretical and practical training for undergraduate and postgraduate students. This programme includes training in a number of areas of information and communication technology, such as fiber optic technology, data transmission networks, LTE networks, and cloud computing platforms.

Kazan Federal University is interested in participating in the programme and is ready to include the Academy’s disciplines in the curriculum for the training of students. At the same time, it is planned to train at least 50 students a year on a fee-free basis. Besides,  the universty is extremely interested in cooperation with Huawei, including research and development opportunities for Huawei Company. The university has a successful experience of performing research projects for the needs of industry leaders such as CISCO, HP, SAMSUNG, FUJITSU, and others.
