Prime Minister of Uzbekistan: Tatarstan is one of the most economically developed regions of Russia

On September 25, during his working visit to Tashkent, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdullah Aripov.

In his welcoming speech, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan reminded that he visited Kazan to attend a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State and the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council this May. He thanked Minnikhanov for the hospitality extended to him during this visit.

Aripov noted that the establishment of personal contacts between leaders of Russia and Uzbekistan is the foundation for further development of mutually beneficial and diversified cooperation.

"We regard Tatarstan as our most important partner in Russia and are interested in further strengthening trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation. Your republic is one of the most economically developed regions of Russia. I hope that representatives of our business circles will establish a lot of interesting contacts," Aripov said.

According to him, enterprises of Uzbekistan can expand the supply of modern passenger cars to Tatarstan, a wide range of textile, leather and shoe products, electrical and mechanical equipment, building materials, food products. "In our turn, we are interested in buying various electrical equipment, petrochemical products, wood, paper, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment from Tatarstan. We propose to establish long-term partnership between manufacturers and trading networks of Uzbekistan and Tatarstan," he added.

Minnikhanov thanked Abdullah Aripov for the attention paid to development of  cooperation between Tatarstan and Uzbekistan. He expressed his hope that the visit of Tatarstan delegation will contribute to strengthening trade, economic and humanitarian ties.

The meeting also discussed steps for further increasing economic cooperation in such areas as petrochemicals, engineering, food industry, tourism and education.

At the end of the meeting five memorandums on cooperation between representatives of large industrial and power companies of Uzbekistan and Tatarstan were sighed.
